This is an example of good headroom. This effects the shot by making the character seem more free and relaxed. This is an example of bad headroom. This affects the feel of the shot as it makes the character seem squashed and uncomfortable. This is an example of how you use the rule-of-thirds correctly when tracking a subject. The character looks comfortable walking somewhere and it clearly shows the character as the focus of the shot. This is a good example of the rule-of-thirds being used incorrectly. The character seems uncomfortable and almost gives the impression that he's about to walk into something in front of him but as the viewer cannot see in front of him it makes the scene confusing. this is an example of using the rule of thirds in a creative way. Instead old just framing him in the middle of the rule-of-thirds, I chose to place him slightly off to the left so it gives attention to the bikes in the background aswell. In this shot, I put the character in the bottom right third of the frame to draw focus to other objects in frame. just another creative way to use the rule of thirds. This shot has a shallow depth of field which draws your focus to the specific object in frame. The bike is positioned directly in the middle of the rule of thirds to show clearly that it is the main focus of the shot.
The storyboard that I produced which is pictured above was just for a quick exercise in class.
It was mainly to show our basic knowledge of storyboard creating. by doing this exercise I found out a lot from my lecturer on how to create an easy to understand, Informative storyboard and what to include in the images and short descriptions below to allow the shots to be taken as accurately as possible in comparison to how you imagine for them to come out in your mind. storyboarding is the best way for a writer to show the production team how they want the scenes to look when they're shot on set. Its hard to explain exactly how you want the shot to look without a properly constructed storyboard sequence. Today we had the fortunate chance to be joined with Otto Bathurst In a lecture to give us chance to ask questions about all different aspects of media production.
Being a BAFTA Award Winner he was able to give us some really valuable Information to help us to really shape our future plans. I found that by talking to him really allowed me to gain an inside view of what its like to work in the media Industry at a professional level. As I'm still unsure on what I want to do when I finish Education, whether thats to progress onto Film School or not. But I think by talking to Otto today has really helped me gain a more fuller understanding of how the progression ladder in the film industry works and it has really made me change my thought's of certain roles within the industry, especially the role of Director which is the role that Otto currently occupies. I think it was overall a great opportunity. |
